I survived the second week of my classes with a breeze. Maybe because it is only the second week and not really that challenging yet. Even after the first week, I already had some essays to write. Fortunately, the essay won’t be as annoying as the one in English and Academic writing classes. So I think I can handle it. There are challenging courses that I had taken this semester but I think I am able to ace it if I am committed. Lots of group projects and those group projects made me think of the old times when I was in high school and in matriculation college doing my A-levels.
What about group projects? Well, nothing special except for people who keep chasing me around and telling me that they ‘want me’. If you know me personally, you know that I like to twist words like this into something dirty. It is not really my fault though, the people who said these stuff to me did not notice how dirty it can sound in someone’s ‘innocent ear’.
Few years ago, when I was doing my A-levels, we had a lot of group projects and we need to pick our own group members. Groups are usually consist of 4-5 people and we need to pick our own group members. If you have cliques, this is easy for you since you can just ignore other people and pick your clique members as your group members and make your communication skills even shiteous. If you are the type that is confident about your communication skills and feel that you can handle a task easily, you wouldn’t care with whoever you have to work with. If you are the type who is not confident about your own skills and need somebody to guide you, you will start panicking.
I belong to the second group. So far, whenever there is a group work or group projects, my group always ended up ace-ing it. I am always the ‘leader’ when it comes to group work and I know what I want exactly, how I want to execute it and how to handle my group members. They call it the ‘Asian factor’. Apparently, if you are Asian, you will automatically be the person with the sexiest brain alive! You are in demand!
Whenever there is a group project, I just want to skip classes and sleep in my room and switch off my phone. And just avoid any sort of communication with other people for a while. Because this is when my classmates will start hunting me and tell me that they ‘want me’. One of the quotes is;
Girl: Ren, I really wanna be with you. I just really really wanna be with you.
Ren: I don’t think so this could help us. I am not the type of person that you can work with since I don’t think that I am your type of friend.
Girl: No. We don’t have to be friends. Lets just do this together.
Ren: …
So, most perverts who do not know what is the based of this dialog will think, “Oh! She just wants to do her but with no strings attached after that. HA!” Yes, I am in demand. If I am a guy and girls just come to me and says these types of things, my life is COMPLETE!
Anyways, I was thinking about removing some of my affiliates who are inactive. I am planning to get more affiliates but have set up some strict rules on affiliation because I am just so sick of people who comes and goes. People are just not serious anymore. They came by and open up their site and if they don’t like it anymore, they will close it down or change the name of the site just because they want to sound more ‘mature’ or different. After changing the site’s name, they will be M.I.A again. We barely even talk so I am sending most of them emails tomorrow and just kick them out. The rules for affiliations and link exchange will show up tomorrow.
Note that I might post up some neat new tutorials this weekend. Or possibly next week. I was thinking about putting either a CSS tutorial or a jQuery. Depends on you guys though. What do you want? There might be some graphic updates next weekend but I am not promising anything. I’ll try and see.
I might not be posting the tutorial this weekend since I want to see the response. What are you interested in?

I always stumbled upon great designers, plugin authors, script authors or tutorial authors that are really talented. So awfully talented to the point that they inspired me. I have to admit that without all these talented designers, programmers or artists, I wouldn’t be where I am now. When I look at some of the freelance designers who have a small website, I notice that people are just downloading their graphics without even saying ‘thank you’ in their comments or even a simple ‘hi, I love your work’. Instead, these down-loaders ended up eating the bandwidth shamelessly and never give proper credits to the designers. Worse, they ended up stealing the graphics and resources and claim it as their own. I know that the designers had put up those graphic resources in order for you to enjoy but popping up in their comment boxes and saying ‘thank you’ will not hurt.
I just recently used WordPress and I am a fan of their plugins system. There are lots of WordPress plugin developers out there and some of them are dedicated when it comes to improving their plugins so that it will make your life easier. What makes these developers more charming is that they are not doing it for the money. Even if they are searching for a profit, they will simply ask you to donate and it is up to you if you want to donate or not. It is annoying to see that some people are just so ungrateful and start bitching about a plugin feature that they do not like. Constructive criticism and bitching are two different things. Learn it and apply it properly. I guess you should stop bitching about a WordPress plugin and start saying thank you instead. If you really do not like the plugins, go and develop one your own.
Here is a few guideline on how you can actually thank the designers and programmers that had produced the designs, plugins, or scripts that you really like:
Thanking a designer
So you like one of the graphic resources that they had design for you to use for free. How to thank them? It is really simple. Believe it or not, commenting on one of their entries and saying thank you will actually make them happy. It makes them feel appreciated. I don’t know why is it so hard when it comes to commenting. Are you intimidated or just scared that the designers are going to eat you when you leave a comment on their site? Don’t want to comment? Leave an email. Take it as a ‘thank you’ note. Next, credits. Give the designers a proper credit if they demand for one. If they don’t, it is really up to you. You can either credit or not. If you chose not to credit, maybe saying thank you or dropping a thank you email will be the least thing that you can do. Believe me when I say that seeing a thank you comment will make a designer happy and also motivate them to do more quality designs and resources. Last but not least, respect their request. If they want their layouts, brushes, textures or other resources to stay on their website only, do not redistribute their stuff. The terms of use are there for you to read and understand and does not act as a pretty invisible ornament on their site.
Thanking a plugin, scripts or an application developer
You do not have to comment or credit when it comes to thanking a WordPress plugin developer since it is usually not necessary and they don’t even care since it is open source. The least you could do to thank them is to comment on their plugins by saying thank you. Refuse to comment? Then you can rate their plugins. If you feel that there could be some improvement that can be made for their plugins, you could give them constructive criticism on how to make their plugins better. Complaining is not a constructive criticism. You are not contributing to anything by complaining. You are just another ungrateful twit for that matter. Here is an example to illustrate a complain perfectly;
“I tried this plugin and it sucks and the author just don’t offer support for it anymore! There is not even a new update for such a long time! And the plugin features are not even that great! I think there are better plugins out there with better features!”
A constructive criticism does not sound like this by the way. Constructive criticisms are giving suggestions to the developers on how they can actually improve their plugins. Plugin Developers are not obliged to provide support for the plugins. They are not even paid.
What about a simple script or a php/mysql script developer? Comments are decent. But if you don’t want to, you can put their name somewhere on your credit page. If they allow you to remove the credits from the script, it is up to you. No credit at all if they don’t demand it is fine too. A thank you note or a simple comment would be awesome. Don’t like any of these thank you methods? The least you could do is not to steal and redistribute them if they don’t want you to. Stealing as in claiming that it is your script and that you had developed it.
Why am I suddenly writing an article about thank yous rather than writing an article about myself or jQuery? Because I just found out that somebody has been redistributing my brushes without my permission and I really really dislike redistribution. And the worse part is, they are redistributing it without even crediting. But don’t worry, I already did what is necessary.

Here is a trick on how to create an image caption with just HTML and CSS. Some of you are not a fan of jQuery and prefers something simpler in order to show your image captions. Here is a solution where you get to display your image captions simply by using HTML and CSS. I remembered a friend who sucks at jQuery and never gets jQuery to work properly on her site even after copy and pasting the codes. This tutorial is dedicated to you guys who hates jQuery!
The first part of the tutorial will show you how to display a static image captions. The second part of the tutorial will be more interactive and will let you show your image captions on hover. Both parts will not require the use of jQuery. You will only need a foundation in HTML and CSS for you to apply this successfully on your website. Of course, you can twist this trick into something more interesting if you have a good imagination. The demos are shown below.

Oh wow. Its been a while since I felt this depressed. I remembered when I got so down one day and that was when I was moving to another place away from my family. To a matriculation college. It is 2 hours drive from home and it is a boring place with no shopping malls and cinema. But that was better because I can still come home every weekend. But now? I am leaving MILES AWAY from my family. No more 2 hours drive. It is an 8 HOURS FLIGHT.
So it is only natural to feel so down whenever you are leaving your family behind. I am currently studying in Carnegie Mellon University so I am leaving tomorrow. The main campus is actually in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but I am currently studying in the Qatar Campus. Google Qatar if you don’t know where it is. Why did I chose the Qatar branch? Because my mom is paranoid and feel that it is safer for me to study in Qatar rather than the states. She probably won’t let me spend a semester there! She will say:
“Full of crazy people! One day, one of their citizens will just buy a gun and openly shoot everyone in a gym or in a park or in the school or college! It is okay for you to die in my hands but not in some crazy maniac’s hands, young lady!”
Anyways, the reason why I feel so down today is because I am leaving to Qatar tomorrow. Away from my family for a whole year. I can only probably come back to Malaysia next year on my summer holiday. It really sucks to be away from your family. The one that you are closest to. I have to admit, I value my family more than I value my friends. Though I love my friends, my family always comes first. In a foreign country, I am always scared. What if I got sick and nobody is there to look for me? If I am sick here in Malaysia, I have my mom to take care of me and my grandma to nag me whenever I am not taking my medicines properly.
Studying overseas have its pros and cons. The pros: you get to meet new people and experience new environment. Widen your horizon. At the same time, getting a better education. Better than the kind of education offered by your own country. The cons: Away from family. Different culture. So many things that you are not used to even after a year of living there. THE FUCKING WEATHER! Oh, don’t let me start on the weather.
Anyways, I think I will be missing my mom the most since I am a big baby. My mom is my hero. One of the amazing woman that exist in my life. I will, one day, dedicate one of my blog post to her and the reason why she is so amazing. Though she could be a bitch sometimes, she is the only woman who can beat my ass and beat me into a pulp without me beating her back. I love you mommy.
Packing was not the only thing that I need to do. I need to cut my hair (which I already did) and update my resume and lots of stuff that I don’t even want to mention. I think the old Ren Aysha is back. The mean one. Because I feel that I am getting meaner and meaner and less tolerant of things that I dislike each day. Or is it because I am feeling down? Or PMS-ing? I remembered the old me. Yes, she was a major bitch. Back when I was 15, 16, 17 years old. Need to wake up a bit early tomorrow. Fix some stuff and pack whatever I need to pack.
Anyways, here is my new hairdo. Not a very artistic picture. I was planning to make it more artistic but too bad the picture was too noisy. That is me and my late grandpa’s old SLR:

I used to have semi-long hair and a bit curly at the bottom but I have to chopped it off because I know that the Doha weather won’t be kind to me and my hair. Better cut it off rather than have it damage permanently. Shorter hair is easier to manage. I’ll grow it back once I am working in Malaysia or Singapore or somewhere where the weather is tolerable. This was how I look like before. That is me and one of my dear friend, Cerra! God I missed the girl! Its been a while! You can stalk her here.

Anyways, I’ll be flying my ass off tomorrow. On a lighter note though, I get to meet some of my closest friends that I missed so much. Here is a fun poll for you.

Why do people post nude pictures/sex tapes of themselves and they cry and say sorry after it leaked? Seriously, these bitches never learn! Don’t they know that it will always always always leaked? Not too long ago, there was a celebrity sex tape that had leaked in Indonesia. It features a very popular singer with two actresses. ZOMG! A THREESOME?! Nah, not exactly. Just him and two girls in two different videos. He is a pretty famous singer. He sings in a band named “Peter pan”. I listen to his songs sometimes. Not a big fan but some of his songs are nice.
If you want to have sex, keep it private and don’t tape it. Pretty please? You have no idea how much it is going to cost you. For example, Peter porn is now in jail because apparently, taping pornographic tapes is considered a crime in Indonesia. The two girls got fired from their TV shows and programs. Some of their adverts that they had starred in will not be shown anymore. They got dropped by their sponsors and they are getting unpopular each day. Sorry girls, now everybody can see your ugly vajayjay! I did not watch it btw! It is too bad that none of your fans support you anymore because…think about it. Most of us love somebody with a squeaky clean image. Well, not exactly squeaky clean but most of us are not a fan of people who tape themselves when they are doing the nasty!
The impact that I had outlined above seems pretty crazy huh? But that is not all. Lets look into the future 40 years from now. You probably had settle down and have kids and grandchildren. What if your kids or grandchildren stumbled upon that sex tape and WATCH IT?! OH MY GOD! Sounds scary.. Or better yet, some of your children’s or grandchildren’s friends watch it and say this:
Rude friend of grandchildren/children: Hey! I saw your mom/grandma doing the nasty with her ex-boyfriend! Love her tits man! And her ass was like jelly! She is old now right? No more jelly? Full of cellulite instead?
I will get a nervous breakdown when somebody says that to me. And after that, I’ll hit that kid’s head with a hammer.
Talking about sex tapes, I remembered a stupid thing that a school mate did back in high school. He had taped a naughty video of himself and his girlfriend. Thinking that he is the new, hot, fornicating stallion in town, he decided to bluetooth it to his friends. Little did he know that the teacher’s bluetooth is active as well. Oh baby! The teacher got the video too! What happens next? You guys are smart people.
The rest is history!
Oh and I remember that a nude picture of a friend of mine got leaked when teachers were inspecting her laptop because they were suspicious of her. She got expelled and her nude pics are still circulating somewhere around this holy technology called the internet. I don’t think it was the teachers who leaked it though. I think it was her ex-boyfriend or something. Again, why do you want to take nude pictures of yourself? Are you that vain? The mirror is not enough for you? Get naked in front of the mirror and admire yourself. Thats it. If you want to show your boyfriend, get naked in front of him!
I think these people who love to take naked pictures or sex tapes should get a hobby. Remember, an ideal mind is the devil’s workshop!
So what are your hobbies, lovely visitors? I love web designing, designing, illustrating and photography. I think when I am not designing or playing with my computer, I’ll do a little bit of photography.
Here are 2 of my favorite photos that I have taken recently. The model is my sister. Not in original size of course. I was experimenting with a classic black and white on this one. I always feel that black and white always goes well with emotive portraits. Black and white had always been my favorite style of frames.
