Yes, you heard that one right. I am officially old! So what did I ended up doing for this festive event? Nothing much. Mom bought me a huge cake and I ended up playing Assassin’s Creed 2. I am trying to make myself love the game. I hate it initially but I am starting to like it. Let see how long this last. Rogue-Dolls is officially 2 years old today as well! Not much to say about Rogue-Dolls since it is still young. I bought the domain on the same day as my birthday since it was a gift from my mom. 21 fun facts about me?

1. The birthday suit plan
Yes, I planned to walk around the house with nothing but my birthday suit. However, the thought of both my mom and grandma chasing me around the house just so that they could drown me discouraged me and I decided to abandon the plan instead.

2. I am obsessed with cleaning my iPad
My iPad is new. I am obsessed when it comes to cleaning any devices that are still new. Once it get old, I don’t even care if it starts to collect dust.

3. I recently bought myself a purple electric violin
I regret quiting violin lessons back then. I managed to only study until Grade 5. However, I am thinking about playing it again and just have fun.

4. I wanna learn pole dancing
I found a pole dancing studio recently. I guess I should take it up once I graduate. Why, you ask me? It is not because I want to seduce somebody. It is for fitness purposes. Not to mention, it can be a form of escapism.

5. I got into a fight once
I studied in a high school filled with delinquents. A girl confronted me because she alleged that I told everyone that her ass is small. She confronted me and I just gave her a smirk and said, “I was not the one who told people that… but even if I did say your ass is small.. it is the truth isn’t it?” She ended up yelling at me and I ended up smacking her face with my files. It got a bit messy but I’ll spare you the details. Obviously, I won the fight. She never bothered me again.

6. I used to be timid
To this day, I don’t understand why the 10 year-old me was too timid to even defend myself from bullies and the fact that I was a pushover. The fact that I can’t even tell some of the kids fuck off annoys me till this very day. Fortunately, that all changed. Obviously, I am no longer timid.

7. I love Tarantino movies
One of the few things that I am obsessed with in life. Tarantino movies! My favorites are Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Vol.1/Vol.2

8. I think that all of my cousins are weird
I’ve met some of my extended families and I’ve met some of my cousins. I never get along well with any of them. One of them is a socialite darling. You can call her the Paris Hilton of Malaysia. One of them claims to be religious but loves to get drunk. Fucking hypocrite. I can go all day talking about these guys. Next!

9. I am a social recluse
I only go out if and only if I had not seen the sun for more than 2 weeks. I usually go out with friends once the break starts or when I finished my finals. Otherwise, my home is my heaven. I definitely don’t understand people who love to waste their time hanging out in the malls every day when there are no special occasions involve. But I still think that I have the potential to be a party girl if I had studied in Malaysia.

10. I am a stalker
I am impressed with my very own stalking skills. Sometimes, I stalk people that I don’t even know. What the hell, Ren? But don’t worry, I am very harmless. I am just a very curious kitty! Why do I stalk people that I don’t know? Just to kill time. Who usually get stalked? Friend of a friend, mutual friends on Facebook, friends of cousins, etc.

11. I dated my first boyfriend because of a dare!
I asked my first boyfriend out because a senior dared me to. This was when I was doing my A-Levels. I saw him when he was doing sit ups and I told a senior that he looks cute. The senior bet that I could never date him. I walked up to him and say that I am interested in him and I want to date him. He said no and I gave him my phone number and told him to call me if he ever change his mine. I left but when I had taken just three steps to leave, he said *Wait! I think..um..lets date! What’s your name?* With a mischievous smirk, I replied, *Ren. You?* The senior ended up buying dinner for me. I dated him for about 2 months and he started being too clingy. I couldn’t stand him and I started pulling the plug. He was an intelligent student and currently doing medicine in one of the local universities. Part of me regrets it. Live without regrets, Ren!

12. I ask a guy out once and got rejected!
This is more of a funny story than a sad story and this happened when I was doing my A-Levels. I had a major crush on a guy and I asked him out even though I did not know his name. He said no because he is interested in someone else. I ended up tormenting him by following him around and singing Indonesian love songs to him! With my friends as the backup singer! Whenever he walks by, I will start yelling his name and sing that song. He got really embarrassed every time I do that! I ended up giving him a peck on his lips forcefully since I manage to catch him off-guard once. I stopped tormenting him for a while because of midterm exams and I started to lose interest. Next thing I know, he started to develop feelings for me and ask me out instead. I played hard to get and ignore him. I think we could have hit it off if I studied in a local university instead. Such a shame though. We could’ve been together. He was rather cute. *I used to stalk him in the library! Should have been the other way around isn’t it?!* This memory never fails to make me laugh!

13. I used to think that Chester Bennington was hot
During the days of Meteora, I was obsessed with Chester Bennington. My friends couldn’t understand my taste in men at all.

14. My father wanted a son, initially
I found out that my father wanted a son when my mom was pregnant with me. I came out instead. Yup. I guess I am a guy in a girl’s body. I am too bold for my own good sometimes.

15. I hate Twilight but I love True Blood
True Blood is one of my favorite TV series currently. It is so messed up in a very sexy way! I have a major crush on Eric Northman! Hell, I would’ve ask him out!

My favorite genre of music besides classical. I love bands such as Bullets for my Valentine, Garbage, HIM, Incubus and Alice in Chains.

17. Facebook Birthday Wishes
My Facebook wall activities are only active whenever it is my birthday. Currently, there are only 64 friends that wished me ‘happy birthday’ out of the 225 friends that I have. Yeah, I know. I am pretty much unpopular.

18. I am always the outsider
In addition to being rather unpopular, I am also always the outsider. I never fit in into any cliques and I find it rather hard to relate to the members of these cliques.

19. I have 5 cats at home
I have 5 cats at home! I am planning to post pictures of them here! Their names are Sakura, Sasuke, Yachiru, Aki and Yoda!

20. I am out of ideas
After reaching the 20th point, I am out of ideas of other fun facts about me.

21. This is my cake
This is what I eat today! Looks delicious, isn’t it? It taste good too!

The Pros and Cons of Studying in a Foreign Country

Tagged:

This is based on my own experience studying in a different country. There are both pros and cons when it comes to everything and it includes studying away from your family.

The Pros
1. Experiencing a New Environment and Culture
The top advantage of studying abroad is that you get to experience staying in a different country. You get to experience a new culture which can be very refreshing. This could be the main advantage for someone who never travels to other different countries before. I’ve traveled before but the thought of studying in a different country and being an international student always intrigues me.

2. Meeting New People
New environment, new culture and new people. Getting to know other people from a different country is always intriguing, isn’t it? I don’t have any high school friends that I still keep in touch with. This is because I used to hate my high school life and wonder why did I ever study in such a shitty school. Not to mention that my high school is filled with delinquents and I was not the type to hang out with these people. As a result, I don’t have much close friends. That started changing when I did my A-Level. Again, I only have few friends that I am close to. So, the thought of making new friends in a different country intrigues me. I am not going to lie, I love my college life even though I am often faced with shitty group members and fake bitches. At least here, I managed to make some real friends that I love hanging out with and I actually care about some of them.

3. Better Education Quality
One of the reasons why I left to study abroad. The country that I currently study in has better education quality compared to my home country. Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying that my home country has a shitty education quality but if you have the chance to learn from the best, why should you reject the offer? Unless if your home country’s education quality is already good, I guess you don’t really have any reason to study elsewhere unless if you love the idea of meeting new people and experiencing a new environment.

4. No Family Members to Watch Over You
This might be both good and bad. The idea of studying in a different country may be fun for you since you can do whatever you want without any family members to control you and watch you like a hawk. Going out whenever you want, wherever you want with whomever you want? No problem! Coming back late at night at 3am in the morning? Who cares! Mom is not here! I am guilty of coming back late at night especially during the weekends or when the finals are over. It is time to chill with friends. However, I am not totally free from my family’s clutches. In my case, both my aunt and uncle is in the same country as me. They can actually help my mom to watch over me. However, I live in the dormitories. I don’t live with my aunt. So, I am still free as a bird! This might be a good reason for you to leave if you just need a bit of time to be away from your controlling family members! My family members are not controlling at all but I like coming back late at night without having my mom yelling at me afterwards.

The Cons
1. Missing Your Family
They can be really annoying but you tend to missed your family especially when you are 7000 miles away from them. I am a mommy’s girl and I am close to all of my family members. I tend to missed them a lot when I am away. I talk to my mom via Gtalk but sometimes it is hard to even chat because of my busy schedule and the time difference. My mom is busy as well. We don’t really talk much if I am away. She does call from time to time.

2. Missing Out on Family Activities
I can’t even spend my holidays with my family. Even if the holiday last for about a week, I don’t see the point of travelling back to Malaysia. Also, I tend to missed out on a lot of family activities. Recently, my family went to the Universal Studio in Singapore without me! I am so annoyed, I swear! And they spent the night in a beautiful resort without me as well. I told my mom to fly me to South Korea this December so that I can ‘absolve all her sins!’

3. Missing Your Home Country
Believe me, you will end up missing your home country. Or maybe not. Depends on the individual, I guess. I tend to missed my home country a lot because of the food! I am not afraid to say that the food in the country that I studied in sucks. It sucks so bad! I am not used to the food there. Even the sushi sucks. Also, I missed the malls and the busy streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Also, the night life in Malaysia is fantastic as well. I am pretty sure that if I had studied in Malaysia instead of studying abroad, I would have been a party animal. I would be a wild child! My mom recently confess why she sent me somewhere else to study. It is because she wants me as far away as possible from the sin city! I agree though. Even in a country where the night life scene is very limited, I still come back to the dorms at around 3am in the morning. :P

4. No Family Members to Watch Over You
As I stated previously, this can be both a good thing and a bad thing as well. What if you get seriously ill in the hospital? Who is going to take care of you? Your friends? They don’t really give a shit about you, believe me. Even if they do, they can’t anyway because they have other commitments to attend to. You can only depend on your family members for these kinds of things.

My Top 3 All Time Favorite Anime

Tagged:

One of my favorite offline activities: anime. Although I watch a lot of anime, I only find a handful that manage to win me over. Here are my top 3 all time favorite anime. This list may change though! You never know, I may lay my eyes on another anime that is better than the listed anime here!

3. Great Teacher Onizuka
Possibly one of the best animes out there. You can consider it as a classic! The story of the perverted Eikichi Onizuka sensei who only becomes a teacher so that he can get closer to high school girls although he does have a conscience and refuse to take advantage on his female students. An ex-gang member who is also a virgin, he is desperate to find a girl that will sleep with him and he will hit on every attractive girls that he lay his eyes on including female teachers and the students’ attractive mothers.

He is not the kind of teacher who will teach math, science or other normal courses that you took in high school because Onizuka is not very gifted when it comes to such courses (he is better at street fighting). Instead, he teach his students ‘life lessons’. What are these ‘life lessons’? Well, you have to check out the anime if you want to find out!

What I like about it? Onizuka himself and the way he handles some of his stubborn students. I also love the adventures that he and his students experienced throughout the anime. You have to watch this anime if you love comedy.

2. Gokusen
Another anime that centers on a teacher and her high school students. I consider her to be the female version of Onizuka though she is not as perverted and she specializes in Math. Yamaguchi Kumiko is a new homeroom teacher to one of the classes in Shirokin Gakuen, a school that is notorious for the delinquents that they produce. Yamaguchi Kumiko is a dedicated teacher but she also keeps a very dark secret; she is the granddaughter of a Yakuza boss.

What I like about it? A very short anime with just 13 episodes. I love comedy so this anime clicks very well with me. I wish it was longer though! I watched the live action J-drama as well but I still prefer the anime.
(So which anime got the first spot?)
