Animated Multiple Image Viewer in Jquery

10

Hello again, children! This is my first time updating with my new laptop so I am a bit excited! Yay! Okay, back to the tutorial. *Clears throat*. Years ago, when I was still new in web designing, I visited Animepaper and thought that their slideshows were created in flash. I know nothing about Javascript and JQuery back then. I visited Animepaper again today and I notice how sleek their slideshow was and I decided to imitate the image viewer by writing my own JQuery code. I decided to imitate only the image viewer part since there are a lot of available slideshow script that can give you the exact same effect that they have in Animepaper. I was actually imitating the technique in order to apply what I had learn so far and to test my understanding. Here I am sharing it with you! You lucky kitties! Those of you who never visited the website before and have no clue on what slideshows am I talking about, you can visit the site here: Animepaper

For those of you who do not know what exactly is an image viewer, I hope this picture below will give you a rough idea on what it is. You can also view the demo here!

Awkward Situation

10

Do you ever encounter an awkward situation with a friend, family members, relatives or generally anybody else? An awkward situation that left you speechless and all you can do is blush and laugh awkwardly and wish that you are somewhere else at the moment. Let me tell you about my awkward situation when I was visiting a family relative back in Indonesia. As some of you know, I am quarter Indonesian and some of my family relatives are there in Jakarta, Indonesia. I visited this woman who is technically my aunt. Maybe. I am not so sure about what kind of ties do I have with her. I am quite close to her and she seems nice to me. She treats me like her own daughter (my mom says it is probably because she never had any daughter before. She had 2 sons and they are all married now). We are not that close any more since we live in different countries now. Though she is nice, she seems a little bit weird and awkward and she likes to say stuff that will create an awful awkward situation.

So one day, I was sitting with her. Having a cup of tea until she starts talking about her…private parts. So she was telling me about another relative’s struggling battle with an itching vajayjay. She told me that she had helped cure this relative’s disease by using some special potion that she made. Riggghhht. Did Professor Snape taught you how to mix them? But no, it didn’t stop there. She kept on telling me that this ‘potion’ that she created with a bunch of weird plants can make a vajayjay smoother. SAY WHAT?! This is the exact same thing that she told me:

“It is true my dear Ren. If you check out my vajayjay, you will notice that it is smoother than a porn star” -Unknown Aunt

“*Laughs Awkwardly* No thanks, auntie. *Continue to laugh awkwardly*” -Ren

So what did I do in the middle of this weird situation? I continue to laugh awkwardly (it sounds a bit like *ehe ehe ehe*) while she continues on bragging about her fantabulous vajayjay! But that is not the most torturing part! She even offered to ‘cure’ my vajayjay! I told her that there is nothing wrong with mine but she kept on saying that it will make mine smoother! So I just decline politely. She even gave me a recipe on how to create the ‘potion’. I am not interested to know so I threw that recipe away but I did remember that one of the ‘secret ingredient’ is to mix those weird plants with a baby oil.

Fascinating. I told my mom and my grandma about this and they laugh hysterically together. Mom says that she should be in the loony bin. But then again, most of my family relatives had been diagnosed with mental illness before. Some is very severe but controllable if you take medicine. These kind of diagnosis in the family makes me wonder if I have a mental illness. My friends told me that I may have a LITTLE BIT of mental illness.

On a side note, some of my visitors had thanked me via email on the tutorials that I had posted. They had also ask me why am I suddenly posting tutorials for you guys to feast upon. I think if I die, I’ll be useless so the only thing that will keep on living is the knowledge that I spread around. Why don’t you guys stop asking questions and just enjoy the tutorials. I’ll be posting more, babies!

I have added 7 new icons!. It consists of Lovely Complex and Blood+.

Hope you guys like it. I’ll be posting more tutorials soon. It is just that I am reading more articles and apply them to my site to see if it works or not. And I’ll also be working on more resources. I had just finished refining some scripts that I had written for my site. I am not sure if I wanted to release them or not but we will see.

Highlight Active Pages using jQuery

11

Last semester, I had taken a course (and got an A, yay!) named User-Centred Web Design. The course basically taught us how to create a website that is user-friendly. I actually enjoyed the course since I am a budding web designer who still have lots more to learn. One of the topics that we had learned was regarding navigations. How do we make navigations more user friendly? One of them is to highlight active pages in order to prevent our visitors from getting lost in a site. This is extremely useful for huge sites such as Amazon, eBay, a company’s website, etc. You wouldn’t want your visitors to feel lost. When I was redesigning the company’s website, I had learned a very useful technique to highlight active pages. Usually, most people will highlight those active pages by hard coding it. What I meant here is that a person may edit the page one by one in order to highlight the active page. I found this very frustrating since I am a lazy bum and I wouldn’t want to do that. After reading many articles, I found a very useful way on how you can highlight your active page automatically and I had apply this technique in order to highlight active pages in the company’s website. This will work fine not only if you use WordPress but also if you use other CMS such as Cutenews, FanUpdate, TextPattern, etc.

Notice that whenever you click a link in Rogue-Dolls, the navigation will get highlighted. For example, if you click ‘about’, you will see this:
