For those of you who know me well, you know that I love console games. I have an Xbox360 and PS2 back home. No PS3 yet however. Will get one when the time is right. If you know me too well, you know that I am a rabid fan girl of Devil May Cry. What is Devil May Cry? If you are a gamer or an anime lover, you are familiar with the series and the hot twins known as Dante and Virgil. If you are neither, Devil May Cry is a hack and slash video game that centers around a half demon-half human protagonist known as Dante. Check this cute guy out. That is Dante for you:
For girls who are not familiar with the gaming/anime/cosplay world may think that Dante looks like a girl. But for us who are anime and manga addicts, we just love to feast our eyes on Bishounens. Besides, I think that Dante is more manly than Bill Kaulitz, the lead singer of Tokio Hotel. I don’t get the hype about that guy apparently. What is his appeal?

After waiting for almost two years, they had finally announce the release of Devil May Cry 5. Being a loyal fan-girl that I had always been, I started to get excited and wonder whether Virgil will be in the fifth installment too. When I watch the trailer, I thought I had press a different link to a different game trailer. Unfortunately, it was the correct link and I found out that they had reboot the DMC series and replace a legendary video game character with this:
Yes, they had replace Dante with THAT. An emo looking douche. Ninja Theory is developing the game and it is directed by Tameen Antoniades who thinks that the Old Dante is not cool anymore. Well, smoking and old punk rock looks are not cool either, you moron! They are so last year and so overrated! Is this what fans really want?
I don’t understand why they need to reboot something that is not broken. Something that is already good. Classic games such as Super Mario will never get reboot by some idiot because the game is already good. In fact, if you ever played Super Mario before, the storyline is always the same. Sequel after sequel after sequel. The storyline usually centers around Mario who wants to rescue a princess. She is known as Princess Peach.
But oh well, as fans, we might love this game because rebooting an iconic character of a bad ass game and making him look exactly like the director (or Frankenstein) is what we really really want! Director’s self whoring alert:
But enough about us. What do the former director and the original Devil May Cry creator thinks? After stalking Hideki Kamiya ‘s twitter, I saw that he had answered several questions from his fans regarding the new Dante:
Kamiya also urged us to try out the game first and stated that Dante had always changed. I partially agree though. Even though Dante’s look changed throughout the series, at least he never undergoes a painful metamorphosis that turned him into a hobo/emo punk wannabe/my gardener. Kamiya tweeted:

WHAT SEQUEL?! And WHAT VIRGIL?! As far as I know, the only game that has a character named Virgil that was created by Kamiya was the Devil May Cry series. What do you think? Is Hideki Kamiya screwing with us?
I guess the best thing I could do is just buy the game and see it for myself. I might enjoy it and it will turn into a some sort of guilty pleasure. But then again, I am just going to pretend nothing ever happens after the third installment of Devil May Cry. I don’t really like the fourth installment either.

Lolz, I agree with Jennifer about TOKIO Hotel’s frontman. It’s just sad the way this new person (whoever he might be) butchered an original character. This new Dante doesn’t stand out much and like you said, haha, it might’ve been a conspiracy from the director to make the character look like him. Or Frankie. Either way, I’m not liking any of it. Although I’ve never played the game before, but I’ve always known Dante witj his trademark silver hair and chest-revealing long red coat. Ngl, I shall miss the old Dante too. ;___;
Save your money for something else. If this game were to release next year (NA), save your money.
Hello Ren! It’s been a while, the project is going smoothly I guess it’s good as it is. I was just asking a friend the other day to hack the project so I would know how to prevent the holes.
Dead Rising will be released on September 28 for the Xbox360 and PC (Sept 27). I’ve been waiting for this game.

I’m alive, though! xD School work almost killed me, but I finished the giant essay I was doing so things have evened out a lot more now. Just odd bits and pieces for homework now, so once I get the hang of not being lazy, I’ll be able to kick Cyanide into living.
@Shini: Unfortunately, it is not a joke. The trailers are out and we are just waiting for the release date. I just hope that this new main character is some mentally disable person who claims himself to be Dante and the real Dante would make a surprise visit. Seriously, I do hope that this is true. They are trying to make Dante look like a band member from the 80′s punk rock movement. Unfortunately… he looks like my gardener with a gay red jacket. Heyy. I have an xbox and PS3. The PS3 is my brothers, and he had Devil May Cry and he loved it.I like toplay call of duty, but i havn’;t been on it for a while. But i’m nearly 9th prestige!:P
What are they thinking? I mean the original Dante is soooo cool that’s why I got hooked in the series! That really sucks!
I’m not into games (I have 0 consoles at home); I’ve seen several Dante’s images, though – viewing him as pretty hot – and I think the game’s creators got their files messed up: why does the guy look like one of the zombies from Resident Evil? This is DEVIL MAY CRY, not R.E. whatever. x_X
Well, they’ll understand when all DMC fans will scorn the game and nobody will longer buy it. >.<
As a fan, I am pretty disappointed with the decision made by Ninja Theory. I would still buy the game and see how it goes. NOT BEFORE I read the reviews though. If the review sucks ass, I would probably just borrow it from one of my friends.

Imma not much of a gamer. The only games I play are the ol’ Famicom and Atari games, a couple of DOS and some ORPGs.
Dante looks cool! He does look a bit feminine, but I think a lot of male characters in Japanese-made games are like that.

Yoo Ren! It’s been a long time. XD So you’re a Devil May Cry fangirl huh?? Man, that series is popular.. I’ve seen my sister play it quite a few times but it never rubbed off on me. From what I’ve seen, I didn’t really like the game or Dante XDD and right after I saw the “new Dante” when I clicked the link on your post, my immediate reaction was “LOL cool!” HAHAH, probably the opposite of what you were thinking. XD It seems like a totally different game in a way.. maybe it would’ve been better if they just made it a new series. I really don’t understand why they would alter Dante that much though (or add facial hair on him in DMC4 wtf?) but… I do like that picture you posted LOL. It looks like they’re trying to promote smoking in that game though. =_= Not cool. This just seems.. “too different” for a DMC reboot in my opinion, but then again I don’t know that much about the game in the first place.
